We used the Racery virtual race platform to create this event. Racery has virtual race options for charities and companies, ranging from a one day “Virtual 5k Anywhere,” which tracks participants’ times and displays where they’ve run or walked, to a two-week virtual marathon allowing racers use up to 80 exercises to advance on a 26.2 mile virtual route.

Our event is hosted on the Racery‘s virtual race platform. Using Racery, companies build virtual races for staff fitness, and charities create virtual races for fundraising and community.

Yes, we are doing it again! Team Alex is gearing up to run the 2017 United Airlines NYC Half on Sunday March 19, 2017, on a 13.1 mile tour of New York City.

As an official New York Road Runners charity partner, Alexandra’s Playground has a limited number of secured entries for the race. We allocate those spots to team members who do not get entry via the NYRR lottery and who commit to fundraising a minimum of $2000. That fundraising commitment must be met by March 16, 2017.

We ask that all team members first try to secure a spot in the race via the NYRR lottery system. Click here to sign up with NYRR. Please note the lottery closes on December 1st and the drawing will take place on December 8th.

Team Alex has been running the NYC Half Marathon since 2009. Every year our team grows and our fundraising gets stronger. The funds raised go towards building a playground or supporting a program in a deserving community. To date, with a focus on the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area, we have built more than 20 playgrounds and programs across the US and abroad.

Come out and Give the Gift of Play and join us in honoring Gino and Linda Vitali for their ongoing generosity and support. In addition to donating generously over the years, they were top fundraisers for Team Alex in this year’s NYC Half Marathon, Gino’s first ever long race! When asked if he would run it again, Gino replied “Never again… unless it’s for Alexandra’s Playground.”

Our goal is to raise $65,000 to help us build our second playground in Paterson, NJ.  This playground will serve more than 300 students at PS#29 plus another 1200+ children and their families in the neighboring community. Read more about this amazing new playground!

Paterson playground equipment

This new playground will be the only one within a half a mile radius. It will be open to the public and reach 1200 children and their families annually. The average household income in the community is $32,000 and 90% of its children are on a free or subsidized lunch program at school. This playground will be an extremely welcome addition to this deserving community and we are thrilled to be able to give them this gift of play!

A big thank you to Liam, Audrey, Griffin and Isla Patterson who have provided an extremely generous donation towards this playground build. We look forward to building this playground together with them.

On Saturday, October 25th volunteers from Alexandra’s Playground and the community of Paterson will come together, pick up tools and build this playground in 6 hours. If you would like to join us on build day please email tricia@alexandrasplayground.org
