Summer Fun: JUST PLAY! 2022

More than 750 children and families throughout the tri-state area got a boost of active Summer Fun with our annual distribution. While this initiative began when playgrounds were closed during the pandemic, we have expanded it every year as more social service organizations request them for their constituents. This year we expanded deeper into Westchester County, NY by supporting hundreds of children in Greenburgh, Sleepy Hollow, and Tarrytown, while also continuing our support in Brooklyn, NJ, and CT.

The children are always excited to receive their bag, and for many it may be the first time they have their own soccer ball, jump rope, frisbee, and more. This year several of our constituents volunteered to organize a bag assembly and then deliver them to a deserving community. The volunteers included families and youth of all ages, including a Girl Scout Troop in NJ. Thank you all!

School 13 Playground in Paterson, NJ

The School 13 community came out on a very hot and sunny June day to help build the 34th Alexandra’s Playground for the children. Jersey Cares and Goldman Sachs joined the build, and also led the painting of games on the school yard and assembly of their fitness kits and snack bags for the students. This is our 10th playground in Paterson and is open to the public after school hours and on weekends. The Kompan playground is designed for ages 5-12 and provides opportunities to slide, climb, spin, and more. Huge thanks to the more than 100 volunteers who joined us for the Gift of Play, and the many donors who made this possible.

Second Annual Golf Outing 2022

It was wonderful to gather at Ardsley Country Club with so many of our supporters for the Gift of Play. We are grateful to everyone for bringing their friends and colleagues along for a fun day of golfing, dining, and celebrating our important work. Their generosity at this event helps us continue to reach more children who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity for safe and active play in their community. Thank you to our sponsors! Lou Costello Park Playground

We are proud to have supported the new inclusive playground at Lou Costello Memorial Park in Paterson, NJ, in partnership with New Jersey Community Development Corporation. The playground was designed with a focus on play opportunities for children with autism and the nearby School 2, and opened in November 2021. The playground provides a place for children of all abilities to grow and explore, and was part of the comprehensive renovation of the park. We joined the Paterson community for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in April 2022.

We used the Racery virtual race platform to create this event. Racery has virtual race options for charities and companies, ranging from a one day “Virtual 5k Anywhere,” which tracks participants’ times and displays where they’ve run or walked, to a two-week virtual marathon allowing racers use up to 80 exercises to advance on a 26.2 mile virtual route.
